Rhonda Gooden was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She is a wife and mother of four adult children. Rhonda migrated to the Greenlawn section of Huntington, New York in 1990. Rhonda holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from S.U.N.Y, Old Westbury, an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts at Suffolk Community College, as well as a degree from Lewis A. Wilson Technological Center in computer Programming Business Administration. Rhonda has always had a heart to serve her community. Which has led her to a 27-year career working in local government; in the Town of Huntington’s Assessor’s office which she still currently holds today. In February of 2019, Rhonda took a leap of faith into entrepreneurship and opened Chez Lãa Reine, ladies’ boutique. Located in the heart of Huntington Village. Rhonda is the only African-American owned ladies’ boutique in West Suffolk County, Long Island. Rhonda believes her role is to inspire those around her to be at their best. And a person's personal presentation plays a significant role in wellness. Which inspired Rhonda to declare the boutique as “The Queen’s Place!” “To inspire women to feel their best by dressing their best is my form of therapy for revitalizing self-confidence and wellness.” explains Rhonda. “My father taught my siblings and I early on to dream big, and aspire to have the finer things in life. So, this boutique works as a conduit, which allows me to apply my training in sociology, and my enthusiasm for fashion; to better serve my community. It’s a blessing to have many talents unfold as a career in an occupation you love. I can apply my many talents with creativity in fashion.” In 2021 Rhonda launched Chez Lãa Reine’s first collection called “The Queens Collection'' to complement the boutique brand. Chez Lãa Reine’s signature style is Parisian Chic for the accomplished woman. Within this line you will see free flowing fabrics, vibrant colors and exotic silhouettes.
