I am Martina Nevado, and I was born in Lima, Peru. From a young age, I knew that I wanted to teach art and I was always designing and creating. I designed my first dress at 11 years old. I had no sewing machine, and I made it by hand. Since I came to the United States, I worked in childcare for fifteen years. There were many opportunities that I had to put on hold because my kids were still little. When my youngest son graduated from high school, I started studies in Baking and Pastry at Hudson Community College but never stopped on what is one of my great passions, fashion design. I studied Draping, Patternmaking and Sketching for Fashion Design at Bergen Community College. Art and design is my passion, and I am sharing it with young children. I am a Sewing and Cooking Instructor in my community’s Public Library. Today, I am about to graduate together with my youngest son with a Studio Arts Major. It is never too late to achieve your dreams, be perseverant.
