My journey as a designer began at the age of 16 in west Africa Senegal, when I first discovered my passion for creating and bringing ideas to life through fabric. My mother saw that spark in me my love for fashion and my eye for detail and enrolled me in a fashion design school, where I learned the fundamentals of sewing. Outside the classroom, my neighbor took me under her wing, teaching me the artistry and precision that turned my stitches into stories. When I moved to the United States, I thought my designing days might stay behind in Senegal until the day I watched my eldest daughter walk the runway as a high-fashion model. In that moment, I knew I belonged in this world too. I debuted my first collection in 2016, determined to create pieces that honor the beauty of African textiles and patterns while blending them with the sophistication of American fashion. Through House of KD Rose, I design gowns, red carpet showstoppers, and everyday wear that carry the soul of my heritage. My mission is to bring the colors, textures, and traditions of my culture to people who may never set foot in my home country, showing that fashion is not just what we wear it’s a bridge between worlds.
